PALM OS: FAQ

IMPORTANT: Please do not confuse .prc books with .prc executable files on Palm OS - they have nothing in common except file extension. You CANNOT Hot Sync these .prc file. If you do Hot Sync these files, you will not be able to access them on your Palm. You need to install the Free MobiPocket Reader to read e-books. The MobiPocket Reader was developed by MobiPocket, the Amazon.com company.

How to upgrade to a full version?
Please purchase the full version from MobileReference.com or from one of our distributors.

I have a Mac computer. Can I install the software on my PDA?
Yes. You need to manually install the Free MobiPocket Reader on your handheld. Then just transfer the e-book to your handheld and enjoy the reading.

Can I hide Graffiti/keyboard display?
Graffiti/keyboard display can be turned off and on by taping the 'Input' icon in the Status Bar to hide the input area or soft keyboard and maximize the screen area.

Can the software run in 320x480 mode?
Yes. The software can run in any resolution.

Can I install multiple MobileReference titles on my PDA?
Yes. You can install as many titles as you want.

Can I install your programs on an extension card?
Yes. You can.

How to set e-books default location on the handheld device (main memory, card)?
On the Desktop MobiPocket Reader click Reading Devices. Select the device. Click on the Edit Properties button. Click on Synchronization tab. Select the e-books location on the handheld - we suggest to select the memory card.

What viewer are you using to present the content?
We use the Free MobiPocket Reader from MobiPocket.com, the Amazon.com company.

Can I download the program over the air?
Yes. You need to purchase directly from MobiPocket. Go to m.mobipocket.com and search keyword MobileReference.

I installed the guide to my device, but I do not see the icon for the guide?
The e-book does not have its own icon. Please open the MobiPocket Reader and select the e-book from the library.

To check that you have adequate space available
1. From the Palm home screen, Tap the Menu button in the Graffiti area.
2. From the App menu, select Info. Your memory usage will appear at the top of the screen.

To delete applications to free memory on your handheld
1. From the Palm home screen, Tap the Menu button in the Graffiti area.
2. From the App menu, select Delete. A List of the applications installed to your handheld and their memory usage will be displayed. Tap on the application you wish to delete.

When I try to unzip a file, I get the error message: "The compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted?
The most likely reason is an incomplete download - sometimes the network drops the download and you are left with half the file. We suggest that you check the file size (Right-click>Properties). Compare the "downloaded file" size to the file size on the server. Re-downloading the file always solves the problem. If it doesn't, please let us know, the file could have been compromised on the server. In this case we will re-upload the file and let you know when it is ready for download.
